Community superstar!
As part of Hutton CE Primary School's Archbishop of York award, the children have to complete challenges at home. Erin wrote a letter and posted it through 10 neighbour’s doors, asking for donations to give to the charity ‘Somewhere to Go’. The photo shows how much she has collected. The newspaper have been to interview her and she is going to the charity on Wednesday to drop off her donations.

Butterfly Conservation Trust visit...
Year 1 pupils at St Martin's C of E Primary School were visited by Munching Caterpillars from the Butterfly Conservation Trust
The children learnt the difference between a butterfly and a moth and how many species of each there are in the UK. They then had the chance to look at some moths closely and to plant some plants to attract butterflies to the school. They all enjoyed the experience and have taken home their own seeds to encourage butterflies in the wild.

Archbishop of York Youth Trust - Young Leaders Award (YLA)
Year 1 pupils at Hutton CE Primary School have been taking part in the Archbishop of York 'Young Leaders Award' and have been learning all about what makes a good leader. As part of the programme, they have to help their local community either through action (such as litter picking) or through fund raising.
When we learnt that the Parish Council was planning to improve Elmhurst Park (the play park just across the road from school) we decided to raise money to help to make the park more inclusive. I have challenged the children to read 1000 times before the end of the year. It's a big challenge but if the children all work together and each one does their share, they will be able to do it. If you would like to support their efforts you can make a donation at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/huttonyear1playparkfundraiser?utm_term=3wqYEddmM In week 1, the children read 124 times and are aiming to read over 200 times this week!
