Born in Doncaster in 1973, I had several homes in England and Europe due to my father’s career in the RAF.
This eventually brought me to Weston super mare in 1989 at the age of 16 where I attended Broadoak Sixth Form at the time. After finishing my A levels, I joined the world of work which included a significant number of roles in the service, retail and manufacturing sectors.
In my early career I recognised the type of employer that my skills suited and subsequently joined North Somerset Council in 1996. My first role was in the Education Department’s Schools Liaison Team which provided a staff development programme of courses and conferences to all schools across the authority. Then, in 2000, I moved into the Education Property Team to start my career in property. This began with managing property issues but led into construction project management, programme management and budget management across the school estate. As the team grew it merged with Corporate Property Services in 2005 to gain efficiencies and my role changed further to include business and financial management.
In 2017 and after 21 years, I left North Somerset Council to work as the Commercial Operations Manager for my current employer which is a public sector wholly owned company called Newport Norse. This provides a whole range of property services to Newport City Council in a 10 year joint venture arrangement.
Outside of work I am married to Kate, we have two adolescent children and we live in Milton. My hobbies include snooker, motorcycling and fitness where I can fit it in between the DIY, gardening and general family life!
